5 Face Acids You Need to Add in Your Skin Care Routine

five-face-you-need-to-use

Acids are the wonder items used to treat scarring, acne, wrinkles, age spots, and uneven skin tone. But with so many acids available, it can be difficult to keep track of which acid should be used. Prior to all of that, you must be aware of where to begin. When used in proper concentrations, acids are among the most advantageous skin care ingredients when used in the proper concentrations.

Below is a list of 5 face acids you need to add in your skin care routine.

1 - Glycolic Acid

A fantastic anti-aging product that does everything is glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is the most widely used alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) for skin care. Because it is the smallest AHA and is derived from sugar cane, it penetrates the skin the best.

It works wonders to exfoliate the skin, diminish fine lines, prevent acne, lighten dark spots, thicken the skin, and even out skin tone and texture. Thus, it should be no surprise that it can be found in many cult skin care products. Low concentrations of less than 10% are typical.

Additionally, glycolic acid is utilized in peels to treat acne and hyperpigmentation, occasionally in conjunction with microdermabrasion or micro-needling. To avoid additional sun damage, you must also use sunscreen because glycolic acid increases sun sensitivity even when it's not on the skin.

2 - Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is well known for its capability to keep pores clear and exfoliate the skin, which helps to lessen acne. It can be found in spot treatments for breakouts, serums, and cleansers with a 0.5 to 2 percent concentration.

In dermatology offices, salicylic acid is also applied as a peeling agent in higher concentrations to treat age spots, melasma, sun damage, and acne. Despite being safe to use on dark skin prone to pigmentation, it is so effective that it is included in wart and corn removal solutions. It shares acetylsalicylic acid, which is an anti-inflammatory compound found in aspirin, with aspirin.

3 - Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is used in skin care products as a humectant, a substance that aids the skin in retaining moisture. It helps hydrate the outer layers of skin, enhancing the appearance of the skin. Hydrated skin is said to be more radiant and youthful-looking.

Hyaluronic acid can be used for a variety of other things besides just enhancing the appearance and feel of your skin (at any age). For instance, it could aid in wound healing, repair damaged skin, and serve as an antioxidant to shield skin from harmful molecules known as free radicals.

4 - Mandelic Acid

Another alpha-hydroxy acid that is derived from bitter almonds is mandelic acid. It is an exfoliating agent, similar to glycolic acid, that can be used to treat sun damage, prevent acne, and even out pigmentation.

Although it is less abrasive to the skin than glycolic acid because of its larger molecular structure, it doesn't penetrate the skin as deeply. For this reason, it frequently replaces glycolic acid in peels, especially for ethnic skin more prone to rebound pigmentation. When a substance's resistance is increased through repeated use, rebound pigmentation results. This renders the substance ineffective and frequently has the opposite effect of what was intended.

5 - Lactic Acid

Exfoliants called AHAs help to smooth out rough skin texture and lighten uneven pigmentation. The best researched AHA after glycolic acid is lactic acid, which is distinguished for being kinder, more hydrating, and more successful at treating sun-damaged skin.

Lactic acid helps remove accumulated dead skin cells from the epidermis, the top layer of skin, and increases cell turnover. The skin becomes thicker and firmer when lactic acid is used. As a result, fewer fine lines, deep wrinkles, and a smoother appearance overall.
